Chemistry P1 Help!!!!

Hey guys, how can we find whether a compound has a chiral atom or how many chiral atom are present in the compound. I really cannot understand it.

for november 2004 the ans is D isnt it..look at the carbon atom it is bonded four differtent atoms or groups of atoms from the definition..the are two phenols..but all the others have four differnt atoms or group of atoms..hope u undestan..olo i was doin the same paper
for november 2008 is the ans 4 centres..apply wat i said to u above they are the second,the third,the fourth and the fifth carbon atom..try to see if four differnt atoms or group of atoms are bonded to each of these carbons
