i have seen dat in many o'level history books they mention extracts from books of other historians like khafi khan etc n i wanted to knw if we can mention those sources in our CIE history paper to explain certain points that we find difficult to do otherwise.............kinda like we mention references in the Islamiat paper....

In history u have to show ur understanding more than knowledge so adding such sources directly will not be very awarding. So its better to use knowledge frm sources n aplly them in answer instead writing whole source as it is.

but what if i want to give quotations to illulstrate difficult points that r not that easy to do widout them......the CIE ppl wont cut marks for that..... would they??

No they won't(there is no negative marking) but they won't award you any marks either,so you would just be wasting time.Wasting time in History paper is simply throwing away marks.
