Do you study according to Syllabus?

Assalamulaikum,
Just wondering if you are studying according to the 2012 syllabus or not?
Because the book contains several things/topics which are not present in the Syllabus, so I am not sure if it safe to leave those topics!

Throw your arguments please! :D
