dot (junction) in a circuit

hello every body ... i am really confused in phy (electricity) and if some one can answer my doubts i will appreciate it....
1-what does dot represent>?
2-are A and B (see diagram) series or parallel (because there is a dot )?
3-... and if there are any tips ... post them plz
