I had the same opinion but my father has told me that the this part of paper is actually to test your language, in a story or narrative, the language used is simple and sentence structure also can't be complex...but the argumentative gives you a chance to use persuasive and impressive language, that is where your vocabulary can be used (sometimes you can also use excellent vocabulary in a story but sometimes the topic is too simple to do that) but no matter which type of argumentative/discursive it is, the language has to be very influential...so there is a chance to score better in discursive essay than in story BUT remember! the discursive topic needs strong arguments and a LOT of practice, you would also need an excellent teacher for that.
