In industry:
1. strontium-90 used maintain the thickness of metals and papers
2. uranium-235 used to generate electricity in nuclear powerstations
In medicine:
1. strontium-90 used to treat skin cancer
2. cobalt-60 used to treat inaccessible cancerous cells
3. iodine-131 used to maintain the function of the thyroid glands
4. gamma rays to sterilize surgical equipment
Also it's definition is the spontaneous nuclear change in which energy is released as radiation forming a new nucleus with a new number of protons and sometimes a new number of neutrons.
