Forgot to cancel wrong workings (written in pen)?

Hi guys, sorry I know this seems like a rather important question, but I hope you guys can give me an answer:
So there was this one question in maths paper 3, which I managed to work out correctly, with the right workings and answers. Problem is, I doubted whether my workings were correct at first, because it was a shortcut, so I use an alternative method to try and work out the answers to see whether they tally with the original workings. However, I did the new working in a haste, and in the end I realised that there might have been some miscalculations somewhere in my new working, so I dismissed the new working. The problem is: I did the alternative method in PEN and stupidly forgot to cancel it. Will the examiners know that it's just rough work (because it was messily done anyway) and just mark my correct and complete working (which was the original working that I did?)

Thanks!

I think they will consider or mark you down....you having 2 solutions would make them think you are asking them 2 choose the correct 1 and mark it....depending on how you did the work...they might consider

Hi there,

So you're saying that they might not give me the marks? But my other solution (the alternative solution) is not complete, as in it's hanging in mid air like a+2b=12 but there's no continuation after that. I realised that was the wrong equation so I stopped. (and it's written at the side). My complete working is written fully with everything clearly explained and the answers clearly stated.

Thanks and please clarify what you just said :)

wait!!! so your alternate work was wrong right? and it was at the side right? if so they would mark the correct 1 and take the rest as rough work!

Hahaha yep, I did the correct workings first, very neatly and completely. Then just to confirm whether my initial workings yielded the correct answer, I did another working (using pen) at the side, though not DIRECTLY next to my correct workings, but it was incomplete, because I realised that I had some miscalculations somewhere. But i did it in pen, do you reckon they'll mark it? But it was quite messily done anyway, the alternative workings. The complete and accurate one was done with complete explanations and answers.
