Hi guys!
I'm new to this forum website, but I was just wondering how difficult it would be if some1 were to teach themselves Further Maths in one year. My school doesn't offer FM as a subject (which sucks) but since I started my A-level Maths a year early I will have time in my second year at sixth form to study FM. I would buy up all the resources/books and start going through them at a good pace! So, I was just wondering how difficult this would be and if anyone else has done this before, it would really be useful as they could shed some insight of this to me!

Thanks! :)

it will be possible, if only u study Further that year with no other subjects...otherwise, will be quite difficult as u also havent got any teacher....
try to get some tuition privately..as it will help save ur time quite a lot..

I'll have only 2/3 other subjects that year as well (ie. Physics, Chemistry and possibly R.S. as the school I'm going to is a Catholic School...)

is it really that hard??
I was hoping for an A*/A (preferably A* though...) as I would study about 1-2 hours each day 5-6 times a week...

hahaha
dude, i took 10 subs in A lvl, and the one I find most difficult was FM...
u talking abt A*, well, i hope and pray dat u get it, but even those who spend 2 years on the subject dont even get A mostly....
still all depends on how much and how good u prepare..1-2 hours each day 5-6 times a week, may be enuff if u do that 365 days of the year....
yeah...it is dat much fu**** hard.. :D

I hope it's not too hard xD, but then again I have never found Maths to be difficult so i'm hoping that would help >__>

Also, are the following books good enough to cover the whole FM syllabus:
- Further Pure Mathematics (by Gaulter and Gaulter...)
- Further Mechanics (by Jefferson and Beadsworth...)
- Advanced Modular Mathematics - Statistics 3 & 4
