i read in a book that aluminum will never be discharged . so why do we use electrolysis to extract aluminium

It depends on the reactivity of the aluminium compared to any other element that whether it will be discharged or nt.......!!!

can u quote that book n reasons......because electrolysis is the ONLY way to extract it n i can assure u aluminium is bein extracted throu electrolysis while v talk.....

cmon ur book i guess was written in 1850s its not even possible that its not extracted like falcon mentioned its the only way to extract it as it is quite reactive

yes i got it aluminium can not be discharged in a dilute or concentrated solution... it is discharged only in molten state thanks guys
