Why did Pakistan support the Palestinian cause between 1947 and 1988? (7)

(Nov. 2008)

The mark scheme says:
" Pakistanis identify themselves with the Palestinians as fellow Muslims who
should be supported in their Cause. The objective of the OIC, of which Pakistan
is a member, is to promote harmony and co-operation between Muslim nations.
The incident of the Al-Aqsa Mosque was discussed at the first meeting of the OIC
and support offered to the Palestinians. At the Second Conference in 1974, more
specific support was forthcoming. "

The factors which I can deduce with the help of he above and with reference to textbooks are:
1) Palestine is a Muslim nation ....
2) As an OIC member, it i Pakistan's duty to support Palestine.....
3) Israel's occupation of Palestine is opposed by Pakistan as Pakistan is a country which is against aggression and invasion.......

However, to produce a strong answer, really strong points are required. Any further help would be appreciated.
If you have stronger factors with you, please contribute.

1) religious associations.Pakistan believed that the Jewish occupation was illegal and the treaties were unfair.Pakistan was also against the pre-emptive strikes and all the oppression.
2)OIC's main purpose was to help the cause. The UN was quiet on the issue and so Pakistan had to help. The PLO was introduced for support.
3)in 1959,the Jews burnt the mosque-al-aqsa (also disrespected Islam in many other ways) in Jerusalem after which the Pakistanis felt it their duty to support Palestine and Islam.
