Must you score above 90% in all the four components or just a 90% overall? Because I make a lot of silly mistakes in s1 so I'm afraid I cannot reach the a* threshold for s1. So if I just score an a in s1 but do very well on the other papers, can I still get an a*?

Yes, you can.

Score of your S1 should be like 85% + out of 100 which will make an A.
Score in other variants should be above 90, best above 95.

(95+85)/2 = 90% which means if both paper's Weightage is 50 / 50 then you can get a*, good thing is S1's weightage afaik is less thy en p3's as for A2, and if u got A* in As, then it's way possible to score A* overall even if u score an A at like 82-83% mark in S1.
