Do I have to know to describe this in any kind of question?

You will have to describe trends based on intermolecular forces I think.

the rxn involving phosphorus (III) iodide to form haloalkane ? whats everything we need to know bout this ?? O.O

Hmm.. just know products, and that steamy fumes are produced, which turn white with ammonia, as the ammonium salt is formed.

when OH attacks 1-bromobutane, the reaction proceeds via sn2 reaction.
activated complex is formed (carbon bonded to 5 elements), do we add charge on it?

Yes, it is necessary to add a "-" sign on the complex.
Complex must be in square brackets.

SN1 shows the removal of the Halogen and the ADDITION of the OH- group

It was okay. I messed up a 3mark question due to nerves.. Went in completely the wrong direction. Rest of the paper was okay though.

Sections A and C were nice :)
