when mark schemes are published -.gt file shows only the mark boundary of A,B,C and so on...but how much more do i need to get from that of A to score an A*

You get an A* if your total performance in all the components is on or above the 90th percentile. For an individual component, Grade A* does not exist. It is calculated using the difference between A and B as a starting point.
