How the A* in CIE ALEVEL is calculated?

How I can get a A*? Does CIE also use UMS like Edexcel,AQA or OCQ which are in order to achieve an A* at A-Level, I must have enough UMS over my AS and A2 modules to warrant an A grade (80%) and then 90% from my A2 modules or CIE has its own method?
