A codec is a bit of software that can understand a particular type of media file (e.g. an MP3 audio file, or a MP4 video file)
'Codec' stands for coder-decoder
To play media files on your computer, you need to have the correct codecs installed. Many media players (e.g. Windows Media Player) come with a whole bunch of codecs included. But sometimes, for a rare/weird file type, you need to download and install extra codecs.

If u have any other problems, do ask :D

Hi I have ICT paper 1 exam tommorow, and I was wondering if I should revise all input and output devices advantages and disadvantages or not because nearly in all past papers they dont ask for them at all.

Re: ICT made easy :) Stuck Somewhere?? Ask your Doubts here!

did u memorised it before??
If yes, just read them once carefully and even if it come it will be easy :D

if no, u shud coz the would ask why this input device is used not that.
eg.why trackerball is used instead of mouse?? (this is an example not what will comec :p)

but if u cant memorise them at least understand them coz u can write them in ur own word.

hope that helped :D

Re: ICT made easy :) Stuck Somewhere?? Ask your Doubts here!

An analogue signal is one which has a value that varies smoothly.

Computers (and most other modern electronic devices such as cameras, mobile phones, etc.)
are ‘digital’ devices because they process data in the form of numbers (digits).

Computers are unable to process analogues signals because they are digital devices.
For digital devices such as computers, to work with analogue devices we need to convert it to digital signal using
Analogue to Digital Convertor (ADC).

(eg.sensor get the information using analogue but it convert it to digital signal while it is being process by the computer)
(eg.actuator get the information from the computer using digital and convert it to analogue so it can be used)

good luck in ur tommorow's exam :)

hope i helped :D
