I'm not entirely sure but I don't see why not. If you do make sure you clearly indicate which answer you are continuing (e.g. Q2) b) ii) ) and make sure you clearly indicate that the answer is to be continued on the blank pages on the page with the first part of your answer.

To be honest I really don't know. That statement doesn't necessarily mean you can only use that space. Try and keep your answers as concise as possible to fit in the space, but if you still run out then I doubt they'll ignore answers continued elsewhere. In sciences I have always gone over the space provided in tests and my teachers haven't told me not to do it, so it should be fine.

Does anyone else have insight on this issue?

I wouldn't recommend you using the blank pages... The lined answer space provides a sort of guideline of how much they expect you to write, obviously you need to take into consideration the size of your handwriting. I suggest you plan out your writing with the key points before answering the question. It helps structure your response and you avoid missing out key points, and it also helps to cut down repetition.

Also, when examiners mark our papers, they scan it onto the computer and then mark them, they don't directly mark on the hard copy, if you get what I mean..? So, you better not risk it, cuz what if they don't see it, like burndtjamb mentioned... Unless you really have to, then go for blank pages but make sure you INDICATE CLEARLY...

Hope that helps :)

I'm not sure exactly why... But that's what I've heard and it's what I've been told.
Yes, black and blue, because your writing is clearer...

Maybe someone else who knows more on this can tell you why.
To be honest, CIE and IGCSE is a whole new concept for me. Was just introduced to it 2 years back, when I started IGCSE... Before that, I was in a different school with IB curriculum.
