I'm wondering if anyone could help me with giving notes/tips or sharing any experiences in order to raise my grade to an A* in both English as a second language & Arabic 1st language .

I took the English First Language (IGCSE) last year and I got an A*(100). I was quite surprised that I got that grade, but here is how I prepped for the exam. For Paper 2, I spent about 12 mins on each essay organizing my response, and drafting up plans. I used about 15 minutes to write the response essays. One thing that would help you immensely when organizing your response is to read sample responses/mark scheme requirements from past papers...If you know what they want you can give it to them easily . And you really have to be a fast reader as well. For Paper 3, I also used the about the same amount of time to organize my responses. Planning ahead pays off in the end. Right now (when you're getting this response) the BEST thing to do is to plan how to manage your time in the exam. The minute I got into the exam I knew which part of the question to tackle first. That will give you control and confidence of your time, and your skills. Wishing you all the best.

Hello, you can check X-papers for past questions, and mark schemes for particular styles, and language techniques that is required of candidates to master. This comes from hours and hours of practice, but what will help you when you are writing the exam is to know how you can program yourself to use your time well. So if you know that you have a particular weakness in writing letters or articles try practicing that more often using different prompts from X-papers, and letting your teacher/instructor give you lots of feedback! This way you will be prepared before the exam comes, and you will know how to work around your weaknesses on the exam. All the best to you!!
