I started somewhere in April too. I ended up with an A. Though i didn't really study much for it.
But if you can, start studying now like most people do.

The best tip for Islamiat i can give you is to read the books as much as possible, and then practice past paper questions.
Write the entire answers, and then mark yourself using the marking scheme.
Also memorize quotations and stuff.

I can't memorize quotations! Like I can't remember the verse and chapter numbers

You have to, if you want to get an A*. Without quotations, you will get an A.

What you can do is, make flash cards or something. Write the quotations on a page, and memorize one (or two, your choice) every day.
Even if you do one each day. 24 hours for memorizing one quotation, you will be able to memorize 100+ in 3 months.

I've memorized some basic ones.
Like Surah Ikhlas, Surah Alaq, Ayat ul Kursi and Surah Fatihah.
Aren't they enough?o_O

Depends.

For example, if you have a question about Hajj, you can't fit in any of those quotations there.
If you have a question about FASTING.. those won't work.

You need to memorize quotations relevant to each topic.
Like, be prepared to add 2-3 quotations on any topic. You can get a question on anything! Any article of faith. Any pillar. :p

Surah Ikhlas, Surah Alaq, Ayat ul Kursi and Surah Fatihah - These might be helpful with the Tauheed topic. And the first article of faith. And also in question 1 of paper 1.
