isl paper... A grade?

my isl teacher said that d highest u get in 10 mark questn in isl is 9 n in 4 mark questn is 3. if tht is sooo, then v get 12 marks deducted from 100..... tht means 88. so how on earth do v get an A grade?????? :x


n what is percentile? can anybody explain d procedure of their grading pplzzz??? :unknown: :unknown:

Well I don't think its correct. Check the marking scheme, for excellent answers the CIE gives 9-10 marks !!

I guess No..!! They haven't set that standard to cut 1 mark from each question...Im sayin this cuz i got 93%..!!

You CAN get full marks if your answer is at the top band as indicated in the mark schemes. Your teacher might be in habit of cutting single marks even from perfect answers so that the students don't get over-confident and continually seek improvement (a common technique).
This what Cambridge has to say about their grading system: "The process of grading in Cambridge O Level involves deciding the minimum mark necessary for each grade. We do not have predetermined thresholds (or quotas of candidates). After each examination series we decide the minimum marks for each threshold (grade boundaries) for each individual component. We carry out this process in order to ensure that the demands on the candidates are the same for every subject and every examination series. We are therefore unable to provide a general list of percentages required for each grade."

That is INCORRECT! Tell your teacher to get a little training and then start teaching ( just kidding , don't do that !).
A good answer , that is well - structured and nicely executed ( add a few quotations , atleast 2) will get you 10/10!

its better to add as many verses n ahadith as u can... every tom, dick n harry learns the basic facts but only a few learn verses etc n dats wat gets u an A*... atleast it worked with me.

Just dont wory abt percentile its really complicated stuff and only CIE know the truth just work hard and hope for the best,if u are still curious search in the O level search box abt Percentile how does it work and u will know as far as quotes go u dont really need to put or 6 quotes in a answer somne two or three quotes do the trick thats all i did this and got an A* !

i really doubt it! she ll just give us another answer tht ll have us worried. lyk she said about may/june paperz... n nw this... seems to meh tht she has taken a job to make us more worried just as our exams approach. as if v r nt already crying our heads off.

Be confident and dont pay heed to this worrying attitude of your teacher !
they tend to do this,forget them and concentrate and be prepared for any unexpected questions,yeah unexpected questions, i have faced the music but Mashaallah came out with victory.So be sure u cover everything and dont leave anything !
