Tafseer isn't a part of our syllabus. I've attached a snapshot of the CIE teacher-support forum. Take a look at it. Nighat Bajwa, is the principal examiner for Islamiyat Paper I.

Also, about the themes of the Quran:
There are three themes, conveyed in the fifteen passages set for special study.

• Allah in Himself [Unseen]:
- Al Baqrah, [2:255]
- Al-Anam, [6:101-103]
- Fussilat, [41:37]
- Al-Shura, [42:4-5]
- Al-Ikhlas, [112]

• Allah's relationship with the created world [Unseen]:
- Al-Fatiha, [1]
- Al-Baqrah, [2:21-22]
- Al-Alaq, [96:1-5]
- Al-Zalzalah, [99]
- Al-Nas, [114]

• Allah's Messengers [May/June 2011]:
-Al-Baqrah, [2:30-37]
-Al-Anaam, [6:75-79]
-Al-Maidah, [5:110]
-Al-Duha, [93]
- Al-Kawthar, [108].

For "Allah In Himself", focus your answers on the concept of Tawhid, and God's unique attributes.
For "Allah's relationship with the created world", focus your answers on how God loves his creations, and talk about His favours upon us, such as the descension of rainfall, and the growth of fruits.
For "Allah's Messengers", talk about God's special concern for His chosen people. Also mention the miracles possessed by the Prophets, and the fact that these were given to them by Allah, so that they would be able to convince the polytheists and pagans. Also talk about how he consoled them, and guided them, from time to time.
