That's also known as sigmoidal curve, that is S-shaped.
A molecule of haemoglobin binds to 4 oxygen molecules.
Now their's cooperative bonding..i.e. when one oxygen molecule binds to a haem group, the 3-D shape of haemoglobin changes slightly to facilitate the addition of second and then third and fourth oxygen molecule. The curve also shows that at low partial pressure of oxygen or high partial pressure of CO2, percentage saturation of haemoglobin is low but then after a slight increase in partial pressure of oxygen, saturation of haemoglobin with oxygen shoots up...
