Candidates should study:

• the major themes of the Qur’an as contained both in the passages set for special study and in other
similar passages

analogy (qiyas)
• its significance as the basis of all thought and action in Islam.

in teacher's support forum they say about this as :Students must know about the sources which explain Holy Quran." when they were asked about tafsir. So, it is first quran itself, than hadith and sunnah and how they supplement as well as complement Holy Qur'an, thirdly the logical reasoning by history of that event"Asbab-e-Nasul"
Quran example: Surah Maida 1 verse and third verse
hadith example: prayer, zakaat, inheritance and zina
history and logical reasong: Surah Kawthar(kausar).

Do this to be on a safer side.Won't require more than 20 minutes to do this.
