first question part (a)

(4/10)^2 = 16/100

16: 8cm^3
100: x cm^3

cross multiply

800cm = 16x
800/16 = 50 cm^3 is area of triangle ABC

(b)
(10/6)^2 = 100/36

100: 50
36: x

cross multiply

(50x36)/100 = x
cancel fifty

36/2 = x
18 = x

(c)
(6/6)^2
18 : 36cm^3
x : 36

x= 18x36/36
cancel 36

x= 18

im trying to do the second one but its confusing... :S are we supposed to find the ratios of the triangles successively? like start from top and work down.

(dont take me srsly, im taking a guess... but correct me if im wrong)

if thats right then: ratio between XPR and PRQ is (1/3) which combine together to make XQR(1+3).
ratio between XQR and QRZ is (2/3)

so if XQR is 4 than to find QRZ:
4 : 2
x : 3

2x=12
x=6

QYZ area is 1/3 of PRQ so its 1.

The ratio between QYZ and QRZ is 1/6. (???)
