Mitochondria!!

Assalamoalaikum!
Now i have in my notes that''the inner membrane of mitochondria has stalked particles''
I didnt understand this point.I would greatly appreciate if someone cud explain me this point :)
And also forthe functions it says that the inner membrane is the site of electron transport system and oxidative phospho relation..i didnt get this too!

Walaikumusalam.
for the stalked particles:-
the mitochondria has 2 membranes, one is the outer smooth membrane and the other inner one is folded in the solutionof mitochondria(matrix). this inner folding is called cristae.
On cristae there are small elementary particles(also called stalked particles) which contain respiratory enzymes.
elementary particles are suspended in the matrix.
the enzymes in these particles are iinvolved in aerobic respiration, therefore involved in production of energy.
and this causes the formation of ATP.

sorry...i dont know the answer for the other part...if anyone can tell tht plz!
