halides(Cl-, I-, Br-, etc )are only released when they are elctrolysed in concentrated aquoes solutions of reactive metals....otherwise, OH- is always released

well if u just see it again it says dilute meaning high water concentration and so more H and OH ions in the soul;tion . on the cathode hydrogen will be given off . on the anode as hydorxide ions are greater in quantity they will be formed and at the end the sodium chloride will not be changed as only hydrogen and oxygen are given off so there wil be no change to the electrolyte ..................... this is a tricky question ........... hope u get it :)
