Benazir Bhutto (1988-1990)
Unsuccessful because
-Army was strong (Zia civil service)
-Opposition was strong. PML
-Non-Confident Movement. (failed but damaging)
-Asif Ali Zardari Corruption.
-Pucca Qila Massacre.
Policies
-Rural Electrification.
-Ending ban on trade union.
Foreign Policies
-Joined Common Wealth.
-Hosted (SAARC) Summit Conference in December 1988.
-1989 met President Bush and improved the relations with USA.







NAWAZ SHARIF (1990-1993)
Economic Policy:
-Industries opened at Private level.
-Projects such as Barotha Hydro power Project, Gwadar Miniport.
-Imported taxis and provided them with cheap loans to overcome unemployment.
-Motorway project.
-Major Bank BCCI collapsed in 1991.
Unsuccessful:
-Co-operative society scandal
(when co-operative society went bank corrupt many poor people lost their saving it was told that the society had provided $billion of loans to Sharif’s family. Though loan repaid but Image/Reputation lost.
-Kalashikov Culture.
-Shariat Bill.
-Dispute with President Ishaq Khan over the 8th Amendment.







Benazir Bhutto (1993-1996)
Unsuccessful:
-No promises fulfilled.
-Opposition very strong (PML)
-Train march.
-Family problems (Murtaza Ali Bhutto murdered)
-Asif Ali Zardari involved in political murder and receiving paybacks.














Nawaz Sharif (1996-1999)

Policies:
-Introduced 13th Amendment (Prime minister power to revoke President from dissolving assembly and Prime minister).
-14th Amendment (Anti-Defection Bill preventing politicians to change party)
-Sajjid Ali chief justice was attacked by PML people.
-President Leghari replaced by M.Rafiq Tartar and Sajjid Ali replaced by Ajmal Mian.
-Nuclear Testing led to the rise in prices of food and fuel.
Government Falls:
-Chief of army Karamat replaced by G.Pervaz Musharaf as Chief of army staff as he wanted a place in national assembly.
-15th Amendments introduced. (Gave Prime minister the right to rule by the name of Islamic law)
-Kargil Conflict.
-Plane Conspiracy.
