Salam everyone. I am going t appear in May/June 2015 2059.I have gone through the whole syllabus and I have come to know about some changes in first question and that the first question has become compulsory. my question is that ,that would the first question be from the third section or it could be from any of the sections? Since the specimen paper has its first question from section 3 , so there is a doubt that would it be compulsorily from section 3 ? Kindly help me out. Any statement / link, if possible, regarding this from CIE would be highly appreciated. Thanks . May Allah reward your help.

Section A (25 marks) – candidates answer one compulsory question made up of
four parts: (a), (b), (c), and (d), which are linked by a common theme. Parts (a) and
(b) are source-based questions using historical sources, either text or pictures/
graphic. Candidates use and interpret each source in answering the questions.
Section B (50 marks) – candidates answer two questions from a choice of four.
Each question has three parts:
• one part testing knowledge (4 marks)
A factual answer of no more than one short paragraph is required.
• one part testing knowledge and understanding includes selecting relevant and
appropriate information (7 marks)
Answers require at least two paragraphs of writing.
• one part testing knowledge, understanding and analytical and evaluative ability
(14 marks)
This includes the ability to synthesise information, the appropriate use of
selected relevant examples and the ability to compare and contrast. This
question should be answered in an essay, in continuous prose of approximately
two pages of writing, not in note form.
Total 75 marks. Externally assessed.
So you can see that no such restriction is imposed by the principal examiners.

There are no significant changes in the syllabus, only the paper pattern is changed for geography.
There will be 5 question, 2 in choice.
Each question will be same except the last part of each question.
In the last part, the students will have to place their argument on the 2 given lines and place a judgement. e.g. There will be 2 statements given and if the candidate is in the favour of statement B then he/she will write advantages for statement B and disadvantages of statement B and then write a conclusion at the end or write more advantages of statement B than statement A. At the end conclusion is necessary. This part is for 6 marks.
Do practise for this part to be prepared. Remaining paper will be same.
