q20: Pressure at a depth of 2x from top or x from bottom of the manometer is the same.
Pressure by P = Pressure by q
P . g . 2x = Q . g . x
P/Q = 1/2
Q33:
use the resistivity formula,
R = $L/A where R is resistance and $ is resistivity.
S remains the same for each type of wire.
use the formula twice.
RA/L = RA/L
substitute V/I for R at both sides
VA/LI = VA/LI
Area = pi x d^2 / 4
so instead of the whole of the expression simply substitute d^2 in the place of area since pi and 4 are constants.
Finally the expressions is,
Vd^2 / LI = Vd^2 /LI
Vd^2/LI = 2V x (2d)^2 / 2L . i ................... here i is the current to be determined....
Solve it
And you get i =4L ....
