u use the equation force= (change in momentum)/time
change in momentum is [(35/1000 * 4.5) - (35/1000 * -3.5)] / 0.14
=2N
the direction of the force will be upwards as the plate exerts an upward force to push the ball

can nyone tell me dat y a thin rod can bend more than a thick rod?

there is a difference in extension on the upper and lower edge of the rod. The difference in thin rod is less than thick rod..nd hence...it can bend more!
