Q3 (i) force=rate of change of momentum or force=change in momentum/time = [m x (v-v')]/t

(ii) momentum=mass x velocity = mv
CHANGE in momentum= m(v-v') so (140/1000) x (5.5- -4.0) = 1.33
(iii)forece=change in momentum/time
=1.33/0.04
=33.3N

the question states that the coherent red light is used in the experiment. so the wavelength of red light lies within the range of 750nm and 550nm.
use a value within the range.
i prefer to use 650nm.
the distance(D) between the slit and screen is 2.4m
the slit width(x) is 0.86mm. i.e 0.00086m
use the formula,
phase difference = (wavelength x D)/x
obtain the answer.

the answer differs if u use different value within the range...

if the question was about coherent source of another light with different color, then u must use the wavelength of same light....those values are all given in your book...
i hope u got what u wanted....
