The radius of the pellet is 2.25 mm and its equilibrium temperature would be about
1000 K.
(i) Assuming that 5% of the energy released is radiated away, show that this
approximate value of temperature is correct.

this is from paper 2011 june unit 5
can some one explain the question ot me . as in why they use only 5%. i dont really get it :|

That's just how it is. This is a value they've given you in the question. You can't just question a given statement.

oh. okay but i dont get why we dont use 95% because what i assumed is tht since 5% is radiated away that means ( i sound so stupid) 95% is left so u knw we use that to find the temperature of the pellet.

when i Googled it
wikipedia said that for a black body object amount radiated = amount absorbed at equllibrium temperature. .. jsut want ot knw if thts why we use the 5% as power in the equation or is there any other answer.
