Principle of Accounts

Hi
I wanted to know some tips or advice from people who have given Principle of Accounts, I m having a little problem with
1) Income statement (One adjustment ruins my net profit)
2) Balance Sheet (One adjustment gone wrong and balance sheet doesn't get balanced)
3) Incomplete Records (Statement of Affairs)
I m appearing in Oct, so i would need maximum guidelines from anyone because I don't want small mistakes to ruin my grade.
