I wanted to ask that when our provisional results come then the grade of any subject is written as e.g
Physics A*(a*)
Now, my question is that what is the meaning of that a* in bracket ??? :O:

I also know that but there got to be any sort of meaning of it !!!
Why would they print a grade in both lower case & normal case ??

I think they print xpected grades in brackets snt by da schools,may b,not sure abt it

there isnt any meaning to it.. the A* grade is actually called A*(a*) in ALL cie certificates

No these aren't the expected results! Its the policy of CIE and they haven't revealed the secret behind it! :p

As far as i know it depicts that both As and A level are complete now, for As only u see small letters, Maybe or maybe not =/

Ha ha no they don't have such stupid meanings.


It's used as a security measure to ensure that the grade has 'not' been mistyped or mis printed. So the bracket verifies the grade printed.

Just like verifying a password on an email registration form.

the individual grade component are only shown by your school! Ask your school if you want to see your grade break-up's!

by individual grade components, do u mean the grades of EACH paper, like for mcqs,theory,etc? if yes, then u can get them from your school.....it is called striped-breakup.

They wont hand it over to you, you can just see and return them.
Yes it contains individual grade of each paper you gave.
