Question about CIE Examinations

Assalam O' Alaikum!

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, however I would like to know about something pertaining to how CIE examinations are 'registered for', if you will.

I am currently in my first year of O levels, and will be giving my Islamiat, Pakistan Studies and Urdu examinations during May 2015 In Sha Allah. I am taking Computer Studies as well as Sciences.

Basically, I want to take Sociology as an extra subject. I will be giving my examinations via my school, however it does not have classes of Sociology for O levels, however I'd still like to give the exam for the subject. How would I go about this? Would the school sponsor me in this still or would I have to go for this subject's exam as a private candidate? I would deeply appreciate it if someone with knowledge on this could shed some light.

Talk with the school. Some schools allow you to give Sociology - you study yourself but take the mock exams and if you get a satisfactory grade - the school allows you to take the subject.

If they don't, you'll have to give it privately. You'll have to get yourself registered at your nearest British Council office.

Still, the first thing will be to discuss this with your school.
