Retake query

I am a student of A-levels 2nd year and I have few queries which I would like to be solved .
I got a B in Physics in June 2012 session and then I went for retake in Oct/Nov 2012 session.Now I would like to you know that in my retake result Cambridge says that better of the two would be considered but does this rule apply on each component result or an overall result.For example if I got a B in Nov session and an A in the same component in June session which one would be considered in the result?

I hope I have explained my confusion to you and would be obliged if you can solve it.

Are you sure?
I have read that in CIE the overall better result is considered for instance if someone got a C in June session and D in Nov session as retake he would be given the better of the two result that is C considering the June session...

It's not like that, in principle, your AS result stays valid for two exam sessions once you have taken the AS in order to give A2 of the subject. When you will register the A2 in june, you will be asked on the form whether you want to carry forward the marks from the june session or the november session
