chordate tendinae are attached to valves
and papillary muscles are attached to chordae tendinae
finally papillary muscles attaches to wall of their respective compartments
what happens is that when the papillary muscles contract , they pull the chordae tendinae along with them and results in openning of the valves to allow blood flow.
chordae tendinae are structures similar to tendons!
