So do we have to learn about adding forces?

My physics teacher in my school have been saying the lessons about adding forces and the commutator got removed from our syllabus, didn't even want to teach them. While other teachers have been saying the opposite. I was wondering if someone knows for sure? Cuz if my teacher was wrong then I seriously gotta learn about them by tomorrow -.-
