I finished my A Levels last year and as far as I know, you're individual grades are not written on statement of result.
Your second question, look at this scenario;
Suppose you get A in Physics AS and A* in Mathematics AS+A2(A Level), this is how it will be written;
Examination/Qualification/Grade Awarded
Physics/GCE AS & A Level/A (ASL)
Mathematics/GCE AS & A Level/A* (AL)
As far as your question regarding compensatory grade, I've never heard of it so I can't say for sure but most probably they will mention "(ASL) with your grade stating that the grade is for AS Level.
