Hi guys. need a desperate prompt reply :(
i got an A in physics. i love physics n its m dream to get an A* in it. but i was flabbergasted wen i came to know my splits. C in practical! A in theory and A in mcqs. i think the A i got is that on borderline.

do u think i can still get an A* if i give my best? or should i get rechecked or worse, reappear?
please please help

I would suggest you to retake the exam rather than rechecking it ! Any way A is not a bad grade but as you have already mentioned about your dream so I would suggest you to retake it to bring best out of you ! Good Luck !

You know, most of your grade also depends on your P4, & no, you A is not in a border, if it was, you'd end up with a B.
I think if you score really amazing in p4, their's a fair chance you get an A*. But if you still doubt it, then go for a retake, but don't forget to carry forward your current marks =]

There is no 'definite' way of telling whether your A is at the border or not. I think that its not. You should carry on with this grade. If you are feeling a lot uncomfortable about it then go for a retake, no issue.

To get an A*, you need an overall A (so you are half way there) and an above 90% in A2 ONLY so don't repeat physics. Just work hard in A2 physics. You don't get an A* for 90% overall. Only the A2 units count towards the award of an A*. Even if you get 100% in your AS units and you get 89% in your A2 ones, it isn't enough for an A*. Similarly, you don't need to get an A at AS to get an A* at A2 if you get 90% in the A2 units, and assuming your A2 marks are high enough to pull your AS marks to an A grade overall. So all you need now is a +90% IN YOUR A2 COURSE ONLY (it doesn't matter if your overall mark is not +90%, it just has to be +80% which you already have) so there's not point in repeating. Work hard in A2 and Good luck!
