1) the prophet (PBUH) said that we are brothers and sisters. When two of them fight, a third should stop te fight and make peace between them. Also, the best way to regain kinship is by saying Salam. And whosoever proceeds tobsay the Salam first gets a lot of reward!

2) the prophet said that the Salam has three parts and whoever says them gets the good deeds accordingly:
Assalamu 'Alaykum- 10 good deeds
Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullah- 20 good deeds
Assalamu 'alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu- 30 good deeds
