Well when I gave my Islamiat exam last year, I memorised a TON of quotations.
So its best you memorise about atleast one quotation for each answer.
And your quotations must be EXACT because you cannot indirectly explain it.
Do this, remember the quotation, no need to memorise the verse number etc, just the, the Quran says : "....."

Last year i did this so i may tell you that if u want 2 write it lyk this THAT IN QURAN IT IS SAID THAT(dnt put the starting inverted commas) .......... .... . So u dnt try 2 be that specific and examiner knows dat u hve a gist of the verse of the Quran..!!

Now u c there's a hell of difference b/w a quote, a saying, a hadith and a quranic verse...!!
A quranic verse remains the same...a hadith can be altered bcuz it cud hve been passed and collected through a different chain of narrators..(i hope u understand wat i mean)..!! Same goes out 4 a caliph's or a religious leader's saying bcuz he wud hve spoken to a lot ov ppl and not every1's memory is the same.! But for a quotation, a general one, like a reference made by a scholar 2 sum1...dey wud hve it in complex wording which wud clearly show da examiner dat u hve crammed the facts and not understood it properly..!! And just a last thing....try to find the basic meaning of everything u read in islamiat..its easy, we know everything b4 but in a different way...so wen hve sort of feeling that u already know it...u wud memoise even its toughest versions becuz ur satisfied dat u actually hve it in ur mind..!!
