Where to use Binomial, Normal or Poisson distributions?

For any variable..which has got two outcomes only...we can use binomial there.....for normal...the variable has to b continuous..>! and for poisson..takin xample of car passing under the bridge...for certain interval of time..the car passin should must b almost same....i.e mean shud b almost same..!!
