Hey everybody. I am currently giving A Levels. And I screwed up Physics Paper 4. Do I really have a chance at a B or A if I get all As in other components and a B in practical?
My Maths Paper 3 also went bad, I might get a B ( InshahAllah) or a C (which I dont really want) :( in it. I have given my AS in Math before and I had an A in it with my components being A and a C. Do I really have a chance at an a or B if I ace Statistics? I really need the cold truth :(

I got into LUMS and I need two Bs and one C for it. So tell me if I really can pull it off or I should let go of it as a dream. :(

Hmm.. From many people in our school I've seen, I genuinely realised the significance of performance in pure math.
To be honest, getting a C in P3 (hope you get a B) would be a huge loss when calculating the overall grade.
1 mark in pure maths is equally important as 1 mark in mechanics/ statistics
because although pure math is 30% and mech/stat is 20%, the overall mark is 75 and 50 respectively.
But if u see the grade boundary, pure math usually have many more marks between each grade than mech/stats.
So let's say you were just able to get an A in AS overall (80UMS), and got a high C in P3.. say it's 10~12 marks away from A (although this differs from yr to yr). Current situation is that you have to get these 'lost' 10~12 marks in P3 from your statistics, but usually A in stats is higher than 40 out of 50, which makes it quite difficult to get an overall A out of it.

Having said that, it's not impossible! - the example above is rather extreme.
If it was that you got a middling A (85%), and got a low B in P3.. say 6~8 marks away from A.
In this case, the conditions you'll get an A is that 1. the stats paper is quite tough (low A boundary) and 2. you ace the stats paper.

Please note that I don't perfectly know how this grading system works but I'd have to say I'm sure just an A in stat wouldn't affect too much in your overall grade. 5~6 marks above the boundary for A can surely pull the grade up I suppose.

It's not late at all. 5 days of hectic revision can surely get you an A*(way higher than A) in stats and an overall grade A. Just beware silly mistakes.

Well..U have an A from AS syllabus?? That's great..And about your question, If u ace statistics(which is not that hard enough) u have great chance to get A (in case u get B in Math P3) n by chance if u secure C in P3, u'll still have high probability of getting B.

And abt physics, U have high chance of getting B (even A) if u step up all other papers!

So, gud luck to u! :D
