I need an explanation as to why the general formula for carboxylic acids, CnH2n+1COOH does not work in this place. Why 3 and 6 and not 3 and 7? The exact value is approximately 6.8, if I'm not wrong. Explanations someone?

yeah, well we are supposed to heat a substance to combust it -.-
but are we supposed to combust a volatile substance? well i wrote my using a pressurized chamber so that it won't evaporate and then heat it.
