"O mankind, eat from whatever is on earth [that is] lawful and good and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.
He only orders you to evil and immorality and to say about Allah what you do not know.

And when it is said to them, "Follow what Allah has revealed," they say, "Rather, we will follow that which we found our fathers doing." Even though their fathers understood nothing, nor were they guided?" (2:168-170)

our forefathers were muslims.. bt still at times there are some family traditions that go against Islam.. and we must avoid them..

for eg, at weddings, the nikah is a sunnah, kind of worship.. imagine hiring a DJ at the nikah being act of worship...!
same way some ppl will spend extravagantly at weddings coz their family does so.. every1 in the family had an elaborate wedding.. but u should not b the one having that... "Indeed, the wasteful are brothers of the devils, and ever has Satan been to his Lord ungrateful."(17:27)

ppl will go in debt to waste money on so many functions b4 marriage.. like mayo, mehndi, and what not.. whereas they can have a simple nikah n later valima.. as per sunnah.

hope u get the point.... so we must b cautious that our love 4 family tradition mustn't allow us to become friend with shaytan. :)
