    The nitrogen containing bases in mRNA are 4 (A, U, G & C) each triplet contains 3 bases, so you can make 64 combinations with them (4^3= 64). The total number of amino acids present in the human body is only 20 amino acids, so, the 64 triplets of codons represents those 20 amino acids only. :)

    Because each amino acid has more than one triplet of codons, as shown in the figure, arg has 6 different codons, cys has 2 codons & glu has 2 codons as well. (64 triplets of codons are available for only 20 amino acids, so, logically, each amino acid will have more than 1 codon representing it).
