    BIO PPR 1 V1 <3

Heyy.. hmm the option regarding phloem was something about the tissue at the tip of the root changing into phloem. This implies (According to what I think) xylem, which is at the tip of the root changing to phloem (Does that make sense?) And I found a question in may/june 2003.. the...

I think D was correct.. In C, blood was flowing from the rest of the body into the left ventricle (Which is incorrect). According to the question u posted, both the top and bottom arrows are pointing in the same direction in B.. in our paper, arrows in C were pointing in opposite directions!

The question stated that X is a circular muscle.. I think this was related to the shape of X (Ciliary body). So the answer was D.. the suspensory ligaments slacken (or something)

    ANSWERING ALL BIO/CHEM PAPER 1 DOUBTS :)

Water will diffuse through the potato into the concentrated sugar solution. This is because osmosis/diffusion occurs from a region of high concentration to a region of lower concentration (down the concentration gradient). Hence, the water will move into the concentrated sugar solution (since...

    ANSWERING ALL BIO/CHEM PAPER 1 DOUBTS :)

Oh yeah.. I was wrong! Did some research now.. removal of undigested food from the anus is egestion. Removal of urea from the blood is excretion coz urea is a waste product. Thank u for clarification btw, I would've gt it wrong tomorrow! :p

    ANSWERING ALL BIO/CHEM PAPER 1 DOUBTS :)

The removal of urea from the blood is not excretion, but a process of filtration carried out by the kidneys! By definition, excretion is the removal of waste products from the body (As in, out of the body). So the only answer here is the removal of undigested food from the anus (C). Hope this...

For number 22, the question is regarding what is not controlled directly by the nervous system. The detector cells in the pancreas are the ones that detect the change in blood glucose concentration! The nervous system (Brain) causes insulin hormone to be secreted and blah blah. Therefore, it is...

POST YOUR BIO AND CHEM PAPER 1 DOUBT HERE !!!!

People have different opinions here.. but I think that the answer is C. If the tip of a shoot is replaced by agar jelly containing auxin, the auxin will diffuse through the agar (since it is permeable) and will cause the shoot to grow more on the side where it is concentrated. The only answer...

I have it in my text book that, if the tip (coleoptile) of a shoot is cut off and replaced by agar jelly with auxin, the shoot will grow towards the direction of light! How about that??

POST YOUR BIO AND CHEM PAPER 1 DOUBT HERE !!!!

I think this is because the mixture of ammonia and nitrogen will not react or dissolve in water and hence, the gas will remain intact. In A, sodium hydroxide will react with carbon dioxide to form sodium carbonate. In B, Sodium hydroxide will react with sulphur dioxide to form sodium sulphate...

Oh sorry.. i ws kinda confused. This is artrial systole whereby the atria contract and the ventricles relax to allow flow of blood into the ventricles. The tricuspid and bicuspid valves open up to allow blood flow between the atria and ventricles. The semi-lunar valves remain closed to prevent...

POST YOUR BIO AND CHEM PAPER 1 DOUBT HERE !!!!

No probs.. this question is regarding diastole, whereby blood enters the left/right ventricle while it is relaxing. The aortic valve (semi-lunar) should remain closed so as to prevent blood from flowing back into the ventricle while it is leaving through the aorta.. and the bicuspid valve should...
