    Mathematics: Post your doubts here!

Re: Maths help available here!!! Stuck somewhere?? Ask here! Salam Yoy could employ "Integration by parts" here, setting "4x^3" as say "u" while "(x - 7)^3" as "dv/dx" and then proceed in the usual way, except that you'd have to use I.B.P. over and over again until the result arrives...

Further Mathematics: Post your doubts here!

Re: The Further Maths Thread Oops...;p I guess I had allocated a misleading notation for the sum "α + ß + Γ + D." I should've used the symbol "S(1)" instead of just "S" to represent the sum, to avoid any type of confusion. So, wherever I wrote "S," I indeed meant S(1). Accordingly, the...

    Re: The Further Maths Thread Assalam-o-Alaikum...! @hamid: "If the roots of the equation x^4 - px^3 + qx^2 - pq x + 1 = 0 are α, ß, Γ and delta(D) show that: ( α + ß + Γ) ( α + ß + D) ( α + Γ + D) ( ß + Γ + D) = 1" You can observe that, in the product "( α + ß + Γ) ( α + ß + D) ( α + Γ + D)...

    help...

    Salam. Hassam yar I tried to solve the above integral without taking help from the given options. Here’s my solution (Alternative to but a little brief than the Wolfram Alpha’s one):- Int < [ cos^3(x) + cos^5(x) ] / [ sin^2(x) + sin^4(x) ] dx > = Int < [ cos^3(x) + cos^5(x) ] / sin^2(x)*[ 1 +...

@ Hassam:- U can differentiate each of the expressions in the given options w.r.t. x, keeping in mind that d/dx [ tan^-1(x) ] = 1/( 1+x^2 ) and then check which of the resullts of the differentiated options simplies to the given integrand. U'll find that it's C

Assalam-o-alaikum Hi there 'liuweijian94', according to my experience, the book "Further Pure Mathematics by Brian and Mark Gaulter, Oxford University press" is infact a very good book covering, in a very nice way, many topics of CIE Further Maths (and I use it frequently). So don't worry...
