    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

BTW they`ve concentrated alot on the steel alloy questions so MAYB they wont bring it in paper 3 lol

    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

me too I HATE MULTIPLE CHOICE effffft and I can`t even start revising 4 paper 3

    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

the salt is insoluble in ehanol but soluble in water so for ehanol it should b a non-metal for the precipitate thingy, I chose sulfate, nitrate and as they mentioned barium which is the test for sulfate and they mentioned silver which is the test for chloride ions I don`t know y did they...

    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

but if heat is needed for steel making then i got 38/40 the problem is that I`m just thinking about the mistakes and I can`t revise 4 paper 3

    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

    So I might get 37/40 :(

    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

As far as I remember ... the 1st 2 options didn`t mention ACID and "C" mentioned that all the alloy will dissolve in HCL which is WRONG because copper doesn`t dissolve so "D" might be the correct response as only zing reacts with HCL

    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

EXACTLY :) and what about the brass alloy , what option did u choose ?

    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

did the question in the 1st place mention the word "core" as both copper and aluminum are conductores BUT the only difference is that aluminum has a steel core
  10. moonlight22

    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

    then it`s copper :)
  11. moonlight22

    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

firstly, I don`t know what`s the answer as I don`t remember if the question says "core" secondly, I don`t say that u r wrong :) just depending to what the question wants the question wants the correct answer not correct chemistry

    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

guys.. If the question mentions the word "core" then it means that aluminum is used as a conductor If the question doesn`t mention the word "core" then it means that copper is used as a conductor so.. does the question mention that word "core" :D

    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

Guys, I`m sure now, heat is not applied into the molten iron , as in my book, it says that the reaction is exothermic, and applying heat favours endothermic change :l

    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

honestly, i don`t remember but what about the brass, copper and zinc thingy , what did u choose ?
  15. moonlight22

    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

it`s because we apply heat to oxidize acidic impurities
  16. moonlight22

    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

aluminum is around the cables , but the inside of cable is copper, and steel core
  17. moonlight22

    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

yeah exactly as it`s ductile :)
  18. moonlight22

    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

    what`s the full question ?
  19. moonlight22

    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

yeah me too, but what about steel-making thingy ? do we apply heat to it
  20. moonlight22

    Chemistry paper 12 discussion!!!!!!!!!!

BTW do we aplly heat when converting iron to steel ?
