Chemistry Paper 1 Doubts Here... !

Hmm, if sand is silicon(iv) oxide, is it not soluble in an organic solvent, as it is a covalent compound? If not, I have no clue, sorry.

    Chemistey Doubts

Question 22 is D. This is because in the first reaction, ammonia is produced, which turns red litmus paper blue. In experiment 2, there is no reaction when an acid is added to a neutral salt, so there is no change, thus showing us that the answer is D. Question 35 is D too. This is because, in...

    Chemistey Doubts

Discharge series is completely different to the reactivity series (:

    Chemistey Doubts

The discharge series should be in your chemistry book.. Just remember that more reactive metals are lower.. H is above them in the series.. SO4 is lower than OH.. Best advice I can give :P Just look in your book at the electrolysis chapter.

    Chem Paper 1!

Right, compare each of the choices.. P is slower than Q, as I stated before. So analyse the effect of each option... If a catalyst was used in P, it would be faster than Q, so it is wrong.. If a higher temperature was used in P, the reaction would again be faster than Q, so it is wrong.. If...

    Chemistey Doubts

Basically. You need to learn the discharge series, and the ions in a solution in order to answer these questions. Whenever there is an aqeous solution, there are also OH ions, meaning hydrogen or Oxygen can be formed.. So, for HCl -> At the cathode = Hydrogen, At the anode = Chlorine ->...

Chemistry Paper 1 Doubts Here... !

    What question dude?
  10. xIshtar

    Chem Paper 1!

Yep :D Exactly. 16. The rate of reaction in P is slower than Q, but the same volume is produced, so no extra reactants are added. So, the answer is D. 26. The answer is D. This is because, the more reactive halide displaces the other in the salt. The higher up in group VII, the more reactive...

    Accounting paper 12 discussion

If you haven't taken it yet, you must be doing 11? The topics will not be the same if so.. Just saying, so you don't waste your time trying to get information rather than studying :D

    Chem Paper 1!

No, if we add lead (ii) nitrate, it forms a precipitate of lead (ii) iodide. Removing the Iodine ions, and isolating the Barium ions.

Irl name and age? Ryan, and 16 :D

    Chem Paper 1!

Magnesium chloride is a salt, and thus neutral, so in the same type of reaction as that of number 23, it will not react.. As for number 3.. Basically, they can get rid of the iodine ions without affecting the barium ions, by forming an iodide precipitate. And this is done by adding lead (ii)...

    Boring !!!!

    Maybe I will :D

    Chem Paper 1!

In addition to my explanation for question 3.. Lead (ii) Nitrate, only reacts with halides. Thus a precipitate of lead iodide is formed.

    Chem Paper 1!

    3. I think 3 is B, because lead nitrate forms a precipitate, the same as silver nitrate. 8. D is an ion, as it has more protons than electrons, meaning that it has lost them in a reaction, as an ion is an atom which carries an electrical charge. 21. Litmus paper turns red, and magnesium fizzes...

No probs. xD. I've been doing M'choice papers all morning, done 6 so far xP..

    Chem Paper 1!

8 is C.. This is because it needs to be solid at room temperature. As for 36, it is A. As, unsaturated compounds have a double bond, which eliminates B and D. But because of the OH group, it is soluble in water, and doesn't form a hydroxide.. 29. I'm sure that it is either C or D.. I would...
